3 for 3: peak bodies back Greens plans

The Greens launched three detailed, effective plans on mental health, child health and clean energy today - and all three were endorsed by the peak organisation in the field. Only the Greens are making this election campaign about our plans to care for people and our environment.

Rural Mental Health plan

Greens Senators Penny Wright and Peter Whish-Wilson launched our $552.6m Rural Mental Health plan, based on Penny's tour of regional communities Australia-wide.

Dr Russell Roberts, chair of the National Alliance for Rural and Regional Mental Health said: "It's one of the most sensible pieces of policy work I've seen from a political party, on rural mental health, in the last 25 years."

"[Senator Penny Wright] has modelled the appropriate form of consultation in meeting with communities, what we'd expect from the major parties but we just haven't seen."

Supporting community-owned clean energy

Greens Leader Christine Milne & Melbourne MP Adam Bandt announced the Greens' $100m plan to support local communities to plan, build and own their own clean energy generators.

Fund Community Energy, who have been campaigning for a seed fund for community energy with local groups like Yarra Community Solar: "A huge win for the campaign! Now will the other major parties support renewable energy for Australian communities?"

Banning alcohol advertising targeting children

Senators Richard Di Natale and Scott Ludlam launched our plan for healthier advertising to kids, including a ban on targeted alcohol, gambling and junk food ads aimed at children.

The Australian Medical Association: "AMA President, Dr Steve Hambleton, today welcomed the Greens' policy to ban the promotion of alcohol during kids' television viewing times and urged the major parties to adopt similar policies."
