AS MORRISON PREPARES THE GROUND TO DITCH KYOTO CREDITS LIBERALS AND LABOR BOTH FAILING 2030 TEST

Greens Leader, Adam Bandt, says the Government is right to reconsider its 2030 climate ambitions, but needs to do far more than just drop the Kyoto-credits loophole if Australia is to join the rest of the world on climate action.

“The government’s terrible 2030 targets leave Australia exposed. We’re in the critical decade and domestic political games will provide no cover for Australia’s climate-pariah status on the world stage,” Bandt said.

GREENS UPDATE MP GUIDELINES

The Australian Greens Party Room has agreed to strengthen rules for Senators and MPs, making explicit a ban on sexual relations between any Federal Greens MPs and any Federal Greens staff members.

The Australian Greens and the Party Room already had very strong and extensive policies on sexual harassment and bullying and this update further strengthens those rules. These rules conform to community expectations and what is in place in workplaces around the country.

People want an ICAC, Government offers them a sham: Bandt

Adam Bandt 2 Nov 2020

Leader of the Australian Greens, Adam Bandt MP, has said the Government’s much anticipated response to growing concern about rorts in parliament looked like a protection racket for politicians that would fail to discourage and root out corrupt behaviour.

Instead of the government’s toothless model, Mr Bandt called on Morrison to allow debate on the Greens model for a Federal ICAC, which has been approved by both integrity experts and the Senate. It has already passed the upper house and could become legislation by next Monday.

PRIVATISATION NOT THE SOLUTION TO AUSPOST DEBACLE

Greens Leader, Adam Bandt, says the Australia Post debacle is symptomatic of corporatisation, a problem that would only be made worse by full privatisation, as the Greens call instead for executive salary caps and a winding-back of privatisation.

At the National Press Club this month, Bandt outlined plans for a major inquiry into the impact of privatisation. This inquiry would include the impact of corporatisation of the public service.

The Greens have not resolved a final position on the Bill and are demanding to see the full details of the scheme first.

Liberals 'too busy' for ICAC - doing what?

Adam Bandt 15 Oct 2020

Greens Leader, Adam Bandt, says the Liberal Party's continued excuses for not having a National anti-corruption body have become utterly farcical.

“More leaked talking points, more excuses. The Liberals have spent thousands of words justifying why there's still no Federal ICAC, when it would only take a vote in the House to implement the Greens bill that has already passed the Senate,” Bandt said.

Greens call on Liberal and Labor to ditch stage 3 tax cuts entirely

Responding to reports that Stage 3 of the government’s tax cuts, voted into law by Liberal and Labor, may not be fully repealed after the next election, Greens Leader, Adam Bandt, has called on Labor to join the Greens in taking on the government by ending the speculation and confusion around their position on the most radical, regressive tax proposal in Australian history.

“These tax cuts, whether you take the stages separately or as a whole, are a radical ideological flattening of our revenue base,” Bandt said.

Liberal & Labor put millionaires before the million unemployed with deal to pass tax cuts

Leader of the Australian Greens Adam Bandt & Economic Justice Spokesperson Nick McKim have today slammed a deal between the Labor and Liberal parties to ram through tens of billions of dollars in tax cuts and corporate welfare.

“Liberal and Labor have put the millionaires ahead of the million unemployed,” said Mr Bandt.
