Greens announce billionaires tax to fund schools, dental, and jobs for all

The Greens will today announce key election policies, including a ‘billionaires tax’ to help fund genuinely free public schools, dental into Medicare and a job for everyone who wants one. 

With the party considering an election in November of this year still a possibility and a minority parliament the most likely outcome, Mr Bandt will push for a tax on billionaires & corporate super profits as part of dealings with a future shared power government.

PM's austerity politics to force people into poverty

The Prime Minister’s plan to put Australia back into austerity mode will throw thousands of people into poverty and risks bankrupting our nation, Leader of the Australian Greens Adam Bandt MP said today. 

“The Prime Minister is desperate to go back to the bad old ways of economic rationalism and austerity, but he is blind to the pain of people out of work and the clear signs that JobSeeker and JobKeeper are still desperately needed,” said Mr Bandt.

Greens call for JobKeeper & JobSeeker extension after NSW COVID outbreak

Leader of the Australian Greens Adam Bandt MP has today called on the government to defer the looming cuts to JobKeeper and JobSeeker in light of the growing COVID outbreak in NSW.

The Coronavirus Supplement is due to drop $200 a month in just 10 days, before being entirely cancelled come March 31.

“With lockdowns and travel bans throwing the country’s Christmas plans into chaos, Scott Morrison must immediately ditch the looming cuts to JobSeeker and JobKeeper,” Mr Bandt said.

Morrison has no pathway out of recession

Responding to today’s alarming economic figures, Greens Leader Adam Bandt said Scott Morrison has no plan to get the country out of recession and that a bold investment plan was needed, not granite benchtop grants.

“Australia is in recession and Scott Morrison has no plan to get us out of it,” said Mr Bandt.

“Depression-era job queues demand a Depression-era response, which means massive public investment in nation-building, planet-saving projects, not granite benchtop grants.”
