Greens to amend JobMaker wage subsidy to block wage thieves & companies putting shareholders first

Leader of the Australian Greens Adam Bandt MP has today outlined his party’s amendments to the JobMaker wage subsidy package, calling upon Labor and the crossbench to support them. The Greens will move amendments that deny the scheme to corporations that have underpaid workers or that have recently paid dividends. The Greens will also move amendments to stop employers sacking people currently employed to take advantage of the scheme. The Greens have not resolved a final position on the Bill and are demanding to see the full details of the scheme first.

Australian Greens build anti-racism strategy to combat rising alt-right hate

Leader of the Australian Greens, Adam Bandt, has today announced a portfolio redistribution that will see Lidia Thorpe and Mehreen Faruqi take on a new anti-racism strategy intended to counter Australia’s growing tide of far right nationalism and tackle systemic racism. 

The move comes as Lidia Thorpe attends her first Greens Party Room meeting as a Senator this Wednesday and ahead of a fuller redistribution of portfolios by Adam Bandt on Thursday.

Bandt: Greens pitch Green New Deal to business leaders

Leader of the Australian Greens Adam Bandt, MP has reached out to the CEOs of Australia’s leading peak business and industry bodies to discuss the role industry can play in a Green New Deal.

“A Green New Deal may be government-led, but it is definitely good for business. It’s critical that we acknowledge tackling the climate crisis and reducing inequality isn’t just a matter for government. We need to make sure Australia’s employers are on board,” Bandt said.
