Greens plan to clamp down on multinational tax avoidance estimated to net $4.5 billion

Today Greens leader Adam Bandt will address the final Greens National Conference of the year announcing a major pillar of the Greens’ Tax the Billionaires election campaign: the plan to End Multinational Tax Avoidance by clamping down on tax exploits and improving the transparency of company and ATO reporting.

The Parliamentary Budget Office has indicated the policy would claw back around $4.5 billion for the public purse.

Greens announce billionaires tax to fund schools, dental, and jobs for all

The Greens will today announce key election policies, including a ‘billionaires tax’ to help fund genuinely free public schools, dental into Medicare and a job for everyone who wants one. 

With the party considering an election in November of this year still a possibility and a minority parliament the most likely outcome, Mr Bandt will push for a tax on billionaires & corporate super profits as part of dealings with a future shared power government.

Greens will fight Government attempt to aid corporate tax avoidance

The Australian Greens say Malcolm Turnbull has exposed his true colours by rejecting an Australian Greens amendment that would have increased transparency in corporate tax avoidance.

"Malcolm Turnbull wants to push ahead with cuts to family support and a higher GST but he's not willing to crack down on corporate tax avoidance," said Greens Leader Richard Di Natale.

"The whole game is up. The Turnbull Government has shown today that it will protect the big end of town and slug ordinary people. Tax reform should start at the top, not at the bottom.
