Minister’s deadline welcome, but more action needed on Alpine grazing: Bandt

Greens MP Adam Bandt has welcomed an announcement by Minister Burke that he has set a two week deadline for the Victorian government, but says more is needed to protect the Alpine National Park from cattle.

Mr Bandt has introduced a private members bill - Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (Abolition of Alpine Grazing) Bill 2011 - which will deem the Federal Environment Minister to have decided to reject alpine grazing in the National Park, forcing the Victorian government to remove the cattle.
